One of the first great principles of a healthy life starts with pure air.  Within minutes without air, we, and every warm-blooded creature would perish.  In fact, our lives are shortened by impurities in the air we breathe.

Like the Earth, our bodies are composed of three states of matter, corresponding to earth, water, and air. Air is the main constituent of the atmosphere which we breathe.  Man was made, as were all animals to live in the pure, open, fresh air.  In the past there was no need to think whether the air was pure or polluted. Pure air was everywhere.  One of the natural laws of good health is that we must have pure air to breathe and live in.

Impure air effects our health in many and different ways, some long-term, some short term, with young children and the elderly especially being effected.  Air pollution aggravates such medical problems as asthma, heart and lung disease and emphysema. Other symptoms of short term effects of air pollution are headaches, nausea, upper respiratory infections, allergic reactions, difficult breathing, wheezing, coughing and irritation to eyes, nose and throat.  Continual exposure to air pollution can cause chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and cause damage to the kidneys, brain, nerves or liver.

There is nowhere one can go to escape air pollution – not even in your own home, and Americans spend 90% of their time indoors. "In 1985 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that toxic chemicals found in the air of almost every American home is three times more likely to cause some type of cancer than outdoor air pollutants". (Miller 488) Sources of indoor air pollution are dust mites, pet dander, copying machines, electrical and telephone cables, mold and microbe-harboring air conditioning systems and ducts, cleaning fluids, cigarette smoke, carpet, latex caulk and paint, vinyl molding, linoleum tile, carpets, and building materials and furniture that emit air pollutants such as formaldehyde.

A major indoor air pollutant is radon-222. Radon is a cancer-causing natural radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. "According to studies by the EPA and the National Research Council, exposure to radon is second only to smoking as a cause of lung cancer". (Miller 489)  Indoor radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and the leading cause among non-smokers. Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless natural radioactive gas released from the earth. This air pollutant enters the environment through the soil, through uranium and phosphate mines, and through coal combustion. Because it is a heavy gas, it tends to collect in basements, entering through spaces in the soil or fill material around a home's foundation.
Air Purification and Clean Air
Air purification and clean air is important for a safe home environment.
Keep your home safe from the dangers of Radon Gas which is a silent killer and leading cause of lung disease.
For air quality in your home if you cook with natural gas it is important to have a methane gas detector.
Because carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless it can be difficult to detect in the air of your home. Having a low cost Carbon Monoxide Detector can save a life.
Important to the air quality of any home is the ability to detect dangerous gases. Keeping your home safe from these dangerous gases is important to your health.
Having clean air in the home is important to your safety and health
